Day 1 - arrive Dublin Airport A.M.

You will be greeted by your personal chauffeur for the next 10 days. At your leisure your driver will guide you around Dublin City to view a City over 1000 years old. You will have the choice to visit The Book of Kells in Trinity Collage, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Guinness Hop Store, view the Georgian houses of Dublin, The Phoenix Park, National Art Gallery, Kilmanham Gaol, depending on your preference.

Overnight in Dublin. Hibernian Hotel or Mespil Hotel.

Day 2

We travel North of Dublin into The Royal County to visit Trim Castle the largest Anglo-Norman castle in Ireland constructed by Hugh de Lacy in the 13th.C. Next we travel further North into the Boyne Valley to Newgrange to view the neolithic passages that pre-date the pyramids of Egypt, a must for history buffs. Our journey takes us to the old Mellifont Abbey Ireland's first Cistercian monestary, its most unique features being its octagonal lavabo c. 1210. We then travel to Malahide Castle and garden, it has the only surviving Medieval Great Hall in Ireland to retain it's original form, you can also visit the Fry Model railway situated on the grounds beside the Castle (restricted opening hours).

Newgrange
We then take the coastal route via Howth, a small fishing village on the edge of Dublin City on occasions you will see the family of seals that follow the fishing trawlers into the harbour, Lambay Island just off Howth harbour is where the Vikings first raided the coast of Ireland in AD 759, we then head to the summit of Howth and view the Bay of Dublin as it merges with the Irish Sea and take the coast road back to your hotel passing Clontarf where Brian Boru fought and died fighting the Vikings in 1014 at the Battle of Clontarf.

Day 3

Today we leave Dublin along the coast travelling Southbound, visiting James Joyce Tower and Museum in Sandycove where Joyce wrote the setting for the first chapter of Ulysses, and the famous 40 foot, where swimmers enjoy a dip 365 days a year ( are you brave enough to have your swimwear at hand ) and Killiney where the elite and famous live. Our journey continous into Wicklow, the Garden of Ireland and to Powerscourt House and gardens a demense of beauty.

Kilkenny Castle
We then travel through the wild and beautiful Wicklow mountains into Glendalough the valley of the two lakes, famous for it's monastic site and round tower founded by St. Kevin in the 6th. century. Our journey continues through the Wicklow Mountains, where many films have been made including Exaliber,King Arthur,Count of Monty Cristo, Reign of Fire, cross country and into Kilkenny, a mediaeval city hosting a 12th. century castle recently restored to it's 1830 splender.

Day 4

We depart Kilkenny and head south visiting Waterford Crystal, famous all over the world for it's masterpieces, watch master craftsmen at work on the factory tour and visit their gallery shop. We depart Waterford and drive further south stopping at Midleton the home of Irish Whiskey, here you can browse in their shop and take the tour of the old distillery. We continue to Cobh, were the Titanic last docked before it's ill fated journey, here you can visit a heritage centre that has a story to be told, here is where 2.5 million adults and children emigrated on Coffin Ships, Steamers, and Great Ocean Liners, the sinking of the Lusitania off Cork Harbour in World War 1, and where Annie Moore the first emigrant ever to be processed of Ellis Island and her two brothers left.

Blarney Castle
We continue our journey to Blarney Wollen Mills the mecca of Irish fair and 15c. Blarney Castle, here you can kiss the Blarney Stone, when kissed is said to endow the speaker with extraordinary powers of eloquence, what we call in Ireland ( the gift of the gab ) the stone was once kissed by Winston Churchill in 1912. We then head for Kinsale the Gormet capital of Ireland and one of Ireland's most historic and attractive locations.

Day 5

After breakfast take a stroll around Kinsale founded by the Anglo-Normans ans visit St. Multose's Church a 12th. Century church which is dedicated to the patron Saint. of Kinsale, it was here that Prince Rupert proclaimed Charles 11, it is one of the oldest Protestant churches in Ireland. After your leisurly stroll you will be driven to Charles Fort overlooking Kinsale Harbour one of the finest surviving examples of a 17th. Century Star Fort.

Ross Castle, Killarney
We then drive along the South Coast heading for Killarney through Glengarriff and the Caha Mountain Pass - stunning scenery, so make sure your camera's at hand.

Day 6

Today the famous Ring Of Kerry - rugged mountains, still lakes, breathtaking scenery, 100 miles of pure heaven and stories to be told (keep your eyes open for the LEPRECHAUNS). This I can't describe - you will have to see it for yourself, beautiful memories forever when you sleep.

Day 7

We depart Killarney and head for Dingle Peninsula - scenes From Ryan's Daughter were filmed here. Our coastal drive looping Slea Head takes in stunning views into the Atlantic Ocean so rugged, bleak and beautiful. In Dingle you have the opportunity to walk and browse this quaint fishing village and home of Fungi the bottle nose Dolphin. We continue our journey passing through Tralee, famous for the Rose of Tralee Festival and over to Tarbert to catch the ferry and across the widest stretch of the river Shannon, bringing you over from Co. Kerry to Co. Clare in 20/30 mins.

Our journey continues to view the Cliffs Of Moher which rise 700ft. above sea level.

Day 8

We depart Lahinch and drive coastal passing the Burren 100sq. miles of Limestone and up to the Alwie Caves. We continue our journey passing through Galway City arriving at Connemara Marble, here you can view the craftsmen at work and the marble in solid form and browse the Connemara Marble shop. Onwards through Oughterard we will stop and walk across the Quiet Man Bridge, scenes from the film The Quiet Man with John Wayne and Maureen O Hara were made on this bridge.

We continue to Clifden in Connemara with the Twelve Pins mountain range in view. Clifden is where Alcock & Brown made the first non-stop Aviation Trans Atlantic crossing in 1919, a small museum to honour their crossing can be viewed in Clifden.

Day 9

We depart Clifden and take the Sky Road drive (next stop America) with sweeping views down to the Atlantic, through Letterfrack and stopping at Kylemore Abbey built in 1864, the house is spectacularly sited above the waters of Lake Pollacappul. We continue our journey to Cong, Ireland's most famous village. Again scenes of the Quiet Man where made here and you can visit the Quiet Man Cottage Museum.

Bunratty Castle
Onwards we travel to Bunratty Castle & Folk Park a reconstructed typical 19th. century village. You have the choice on your last night, retiring to bed early, a Mediaeval Banquet or Irish night in Bunratty Castle.

Overnight in Co. Clare. Bunratty Castle Hotel or Fitzpatricks Hotel.


Day 10

Depending on your departure time at Shannon Airport, you still might have some time for last minute shopping, and with fond memories of the Emerald Isle and your driver, we say Slan Abhaile (safe home.)

Above prices include a Medieval Banquet or Irish Night in Bunratty Castle on your last night. A suitable touring vehicle will be used, according to number of people travelling.

We advise you book well in advance to avoid disappointment. This is a private service, if you book for two persons you travel privately with your chauffeur as a group of two persons. Equally if you travel as a group, your tour is private for your group only. We do not mix groups or individuals.
