Day 1 - Arrive Shannon Airport A.M.

Blarney Castle

You will be greeted by your personal driver/guide for the next 9 days, and transferred through Limerick over the River Shannon. We are heading for Blarney Co. Cork to visit the 15th.c Blarney Castle. Here you have the opportunity to kiss the Blarney Stone, when kissed is said to endow the speaker with extraordinary powers of eloquence, what we call in Ireland 'the gift of the gab'. The stone was once kissed by Winston Churchill in 1912. Refreshments are the order of the day before you grace yourself in Blarney Woollen Mills a shop of wonderful and exciting Irish fair.

We depart Blarney and drive to Cobh where the Titanic last docked before its ill fated journey. Here you can visit a heritage centre that has a story to be told. Here is where 2.5 million adults and children emigrated on Coffin Ships, Steamers, and Great Ocean Liners, and the sinking of the Lusitania off Cork harbour in World War 1. We depart Cobh across a short hop ferry (approx. 5 mins) and drive through the countryside to Kinsale the gourmet capital of Ireland, one the most historic and attractive locations in the country.

Day 2.

Kinsale Head

After a browse and leisurely walk around Kinsale we drive to Charles Fort overlooking Kinsale Harbour one of the finest surviving examples of a 17th.c star fort.

Druid Hill

We depart Kinsale and drive along the south coast passing Bantry Bay and into Glengarriff. Time for a boat ride approx. 15 mins. to the Italian Gardens on Garnish Island. We continue over the Caha Mountains into Kenmare Town and onwards to Killarney.

Day 3.

The Ring of Kerry

Today the famous Ring of Kerry- rugged mountains, still lakes, Atlantic Ocean, breathtaking scenery, 100 miles of pure heaven and stories to be told (keep your eyes open for the Leprechauns).

We stop at the Bog Village to see the history of turf and have their famous Irish Coffee, the rest I can't describe you will have to see it for yourself.

Day 4.

Slea Head Drive

We depart Killarney and drive to Dingle, passing Inch beach where you can take in the fresh Atlantic air with a stroll. We continue passing the patchwork quilt hedgerow fields into Dingle. Traditional fish & chips made with real potatoes and fresh cod from the trawlers in Dingle is the order for lunch and then off to drive the Slea Head loop.

Gallarus Oratory

We see the 2000 year old Beehive Huts, a visit to the Blasket Centre and audio visual and Gallarus Oratory 8th.c. We return to Dingle and visit a world renowned silversmith before checking into your hotel, dinner and some Irish music to finish off your day.

Day 5.

Conor Pass

After browsing and a nice walk around Dingle Town we depart over the Conor Pass and descend into Tralee stopping at The Blennerville Windmill and the story of The Jeannie Johnson.

We pass through Tralee and drive countryside through small villages to take the car ferry across from North Kerry to South Clare and cross the River Shannon approx. 20 mins. Onwards we drive coastal to our destination Lahinch famed for it's Championship links golf course.

Day 6.

The Cliffs of Moher

We start our day with a visit to the Cliffs of Moher rising 700 feet above sea level and drive to the Burren which contains 100 square miles of limestone rock visiting Poulnabrone a 5000 year old ancient burial site. Onwards through the Burren we continue passing small country villages arriving at the 'City of the Tribesmen' Galway.

We visit Connemara Marble where Ambrose will explain the Marble in it's raw form. Clifden is calling so we say farewell to Ambrose and stop at the Quiet Man Bridge made famous in the film The Quiet Man with John Wayne and Maureen O Hara and continue to Clifden Connemara.

Day 7.

Turf Stacks

We start our day with a private visit to a local sheep farmer on a traditional Irish Farm (hidden gem) and continue to take the Sky Road Drive (see photo above) with sweeping views into the Atlantic Ocean.

Connemara

We stop for lunch at Letterfrack and visit Kylemore Abbey 1864, which is spectacularly sited above Lake Pollacappul. We continue our journey passing the turf stacks in the bog back to Galway City.

Overnight Galway City. 4 Star Hotel.

Day 8.

Bunratty Castle

This morning you can browse and walk Galway City before we depart for Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. Any last minute shopping or gifts can be purchased at Blarney Woollen Mills or Avoca Handweavers in the village of Bunratty.
We check into your hotel where you can freshen up or take a swim in the pool, before we depart back to Bunratty Castle for your farewell evening entertainment at the Irish or Medieval evening which includes dinner and wine prepaid in your itinerary and return to your hotel.

Overnight Limerick / Bunratty: 3 /4 Star Hotel.

Day 9.

Alas we transfer you from your hotel to Shannon Airport with fond memories of the Emerald Isle and your driver, we say slan abhaile (safe home)
